12-Year Old Arrested In Connection To Pittsfield School Threats
On May 28th of this year, Schools in MSAD 53 were temporarily shut down after threats were made specifically towards Pittsfield, on Social Media. To be safe, students and faculty were asked to stay home, as authorities looked into the matter.
After a few days, the schools opened again, and students were allowed to return to class. But police were still working to track down who had made the threats and where they had come from.
After months of investigation, the Pittsfield Police Department says they believe they now know where those threats originated, and an arrest has been made in the case.
They say that on Thursday, September 19th at around 10 AM,
"School Resource Officer Rock arrested a 12-year-old male from Detroit in connection to Terrorizing threats made last school year. These threats resulted in MSAD 53 closing school for several days. The 12-year-old male was charged with two counts of Class D Terrorizing."
Police Chief Vincente Morris went on to remind people in the community that members of law enforcement take very seriously any threats made against the public.
He also thanked members of the local police force, the Maine State Computer Crimes task force, and his federal law enforcement counterparts for working with the Pittsfield Police to close this case.
