
2022 Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race This Weekend
It's almost time for the annual Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race. Paddlers will take to the water this weekend.
The 2022 Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race is this weekend. Paddlers can still register online, or in person at the Bangor Parks & Recreation office. The race is Saturday April 16. This will the 55th running of the annual canoe race. Day before and race day registration will be available this year. Registered paddlers can pick up their bib and shirt beginning Monday, April 11, at Bangor Parks & Rec building.
Last race, was very different for racers and spectators due to COVID-19 concerns. A limited number of boaters were be allowed to participate in the 2021 race. There's no cap on number of participants for this year's race. For spectators, certain areas of the pervious race were closed due to overcrowding concerns. No mention of closed viewing areas has been announced.
The 2020 Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race was ultimately canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 16.5-mile race begins in Kenduskeag Village and ends at the Penobscot River in downtown Bangor. The race typically attracts around 800-900 paddlers, and hundreds of spectators each year.
