A Day On The Green Means A Day At Camp For Maine Kids With Disabilities
Calling all golfers!
In just a few weeks, Hermon Meadow Golf Course will host its Annual Charity Golf Scramble to help benefit Camp CaPella, and they want you to help!
For those who don't know about Camp CaPella, it's a beautiful facility that sits along Phillips Lake and serves a very special purpose, according to their website.
"The purpose of Camp CaPella is to provide individuals with disabilities with a welll-rounded recreational and educational program which will include activities relevant to the camp's philosophy. Our main objective is to promote the physical and emotional well-being of individuals with disabilities."
Serving folks with both physical and mental/emotional challenges. A good portion of the funding to needed to keep the camp going, and make it so those who need these services but can't necessarily pay for them, still have access to the programs.
Organizer Melanie Dresser, with Camp CaPella, says the Annual Golf Scramble is one of the many fundraisers that help with those costs. This event happens to also be their biggest fundraiser of the year.
"The Camp CaPella Charity Golf Scramble is one of the largest fundraisers of the year for the non-profit summer camp serving individuals with disabilities. Camp CaPella never turns away a camper based on ability to pay, which means every dollar raised from the Golf Tourney helps to send someone with disabilities to summer camp."
The event is scheduled to take place Sunday August 18th, at the Hermon Meadows Golf Course on the Billings Road in Hermon.
The scramble will kick off with a shotgun start at 8 AM. They are in need of hole sponsors, too.
Jeff's Catering will be on hand, providing a BBQ Lunch of Beef Brisket and Jerk Chicken. They will also have a putting contest, a straight drive, play closest to the pin, and, have goody bags, door prizes, and a raffle, too.
All the proceeds raised at this year's scramble will benefit Camp CaPella.
