It's quickly turning into mud season, and park officials are worried about you getting your hiking boots muddy.  NOT!

As of yesterday, April 1st, all carriage roads within Acadia National Park are closed because of extremely wet conditions to hikers, bikers, horses and all others, until it becomes dry enough to once again use them. Of course any traffic whatsoever at this time of year would create ruts, potholes and erosion.

We’re asking all visitors to help protect the historic carriage road system and prevent costly repairs by cooperating with this temporary closure,” said Superintendent Kevin Schneider.

You can monitor any messages about the Park's carriage roads HERE.
