Sgt. Jeremy Brock of the Bangor Police Department said officers were called to Center Street for a report of a man trying break into vehicles in the area, and caught 34-year old Alexander Justice red-handed, as he was trying to get into a car that wasn't his.
"On Wednesday, April 22, at approximately 06:47 a.m.,Bangor Police responded to Center Street for the report of a man in his underwear trying to get into locked vehicles. Officers arrived and located the man matching the description actively trying to enter a vehicle that did not belong to him. Officers also took several complaints from downtown businesses involving rocks being thrown through their windows earlier in the morning. Bangor Police were able to identify Justice on security footage of these businesses and he was ultimately arrested."
Sgt. Brock says Justice is facing charges of Criminal Mischief and Criminal Attempted Burglary to a Motor Vehicle.
Alexander Justice was taken to the Penobscot County Jail following his arrest.

One of the local businesses that was hit was Henry's Bridal Boutique on Washington Street. We're told they are in the process of cleaning up now, and will be open for business (as it is prom season!) later today.
"Everything in the shop is safe and nothing was touched! Cleaning is underway and going great. We plan on opening regular business hours, but the shop might be a bit disheveled with a boarded up window and mannequins displaces. But we are all safe and everything in the shop is safe!"

The restaurant next door, Hero's, was also hit. They, too, plan to open for business later today.
"Yes we were vandalized this morning. We should have plenty of time to clean up where we do not open until 4 pm, but will have a temporary solution for the day. The best thing the community can do is support the businesses."
Quality Jewelers also received damage to their storefront, that will take a little longer to fix.
"We should be back up and running tomorrow for our normal hours, provided that the company we are getting to replace the door fulfills their deadline of getting that all installed today. Our cameras caught him, along with other businesses that also got him on video. We’ll be boarded up, cleaned up, probably within the hour. But yes provided we have our door replaced today we will be business as usual starting tomorrow. That’s the plan!"
There is no word yet as to how many Bangor businesses or buildings were affected by Wednesday morning's vandalism spree, or how wide-spread the damage is.
