As most major cruise lines suspend operations, committee members at last night's meeting expressed that it was too early to make a decision on the first scheduled visit to Bar Harbor.

Members of the Bar Harbor Cruise Committee met with those from the U.S. Coast Guard, other town officials, and representatives from both Senators Angus King's and Susan Collins' offices last night.

Some from Bar Harbor and Mount Desert Island expressed concern about the coronavirus being spread via cruise ship passengers and staff.  The virus especially effects the elderly, of which there are many living on MDI.

The first ship scheduled to visit Bar Harbor is the Victory II on Saturday, April 25th. An amazingly high number of cruise ships are scheduled to visit Bar Harbor his year, and thousands of passengers from around the world will disembark, walking the downtown area, and boarding buses to be taken throughout Acadia National Park.
