The Maine Department of Transportation and the contractor for the Route 3 reconstruction project tells us this is what they'll be working on for the week ending April 7th!

Work will include:

  1. Working on water lines near Days Inn
  2. Working on water lines from West Street to Cottage Street
  3. Working on placing new drainage pipes at Ocean Avenue and the Acadia National Park entrance
  4. Utilities will be taking down old poles and wires from West Street to Eagle Lake Road and slicing new wires at Eagle Lake Road

2018 work will include the reconstruction of Route 3 below Crooked Road into Bar Harbor to the end point at the intersection of Route 3 and Route 233. Two-way traffic will be maintained on Route 3 except when outbound traffic from Bar Harbor will be detoured to Eagle Lake Road and Route 102, or to Paradise Hill Road. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained.

All work is dependent on weather conditions.

The project is due to be completed by the spring of 2019.
