Caribou Has A Cake Fridge. What A Concept! Jealous?
Can’t say I ever longed to live in Caribou ... until now of course.
Here’s hoping that this idea sweeps our nation, borrowed from England, and began in Maine.
Caribou Maine. Making it even a better place with this idea.

We’ve all heard of cookie stands, and lemonade stands, and numerous other ideas of people selling things at stands.
This one is at a typical home in Caribou. A cake fridge. Pull up in the car, or walk over and open the fridge door and there you go. Cupcakes.
And to make it all even easier and more convenient, there’s nobody at the stand. You want the cupcake, you take the cupcake and leave your money ‘on the honor’ system.
We’ve all experienced roadside stands that use the honor system. Momo’s Cheesecake in Ellsworth comes to mind.
Numerous places out in the country sell dozens of eggs on the honor system.
In The County, they sell potatoes that way.
So why not cupcakes?
If you are going to be in Caribou this summer, head to Glenn street.
Welcome to the Glenn Street Cake Fridge
Lori Knight is the cupcake lady. She’s admittedly not a professional baker. She told WAGM TV.
I’m a school teacher. This is just a summer fun thing to do
And she told us she is so surprised at the response and the number of people who have reached out to her on Facebook.
She began Monday the 27th of June, and quickly sold out all her cupcakes, in less than an hour. Then on Thursday the 30th, sold out again by mid-morning.
She’s taking this week off and promises to re-open Monday, July 11th.
But don’t get there too late in the day.
Where did the idea come from?
Lori is an avid baker, and she binge-watched a British TV show called ‘Shetland’, and there is a cake fridge in Shetland, so she thought
“Why can’t I do that here?”
You sure have done it, Lori. Here’s to a fun summer full of a lifetime of memories. And Cupcakes.
