Time to clean out Grammy's medicine chest before some unworthy individual comes along and does it for you.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day is this Saturday, October 24th, and a bunch of area police departments will be participating. Drug Take-Back Day earlier this year was cancelled due to COVID-19, so you may be surprised to find quite the stockpile of unwanted and outdated medicine not only in your home but in your older relatives' home as well.

Now's the time to properly dispose of this stuff. So look in your medicine chest, kitchen cabinets and night stand, and gather up those outdated and no longer needed pills for drop off.

Here's where area police departments have set up to take those meds back with no questions asked this Saturday. Most hours are 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  No liquids or needles will be accepted, so don't bring those along to the drop off sites.

Orono Police Department - Bell's IGA parking lot at 6 Stillwater Avenue.  10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Penobscot County Sheriff's Department - Airport Mall parking lot, Union Street, Bangor 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Hancock County Sheriff's Department - Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce building at 163 High Street (Reny's parking lot).  9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
