Sometimes, an active imagination can be a bit over the top.

Once when I was a kid, a few friends and I were riding our bikes all over Hampden. At one point, we found ourselves on the shore of the stream that runs through the center of town, but we were basically way down behind what is the police station/town office. We felt like we were spies that day, so everything seemed suspicious.

It was a Saturday, and we noticed all these dump trucks coming in and out of the old cement factory or whatever was down by the stream. In our minds, we became convinced this was a secret drug smuggling operation, and that perhaps we should alert the police. Then we got distracted by a shiny object and moved on.

What about when weird things happen on your own property?

One person got extremely concerned with some activity they discovered in their back woods and went to Reddit with their concerns. There was a baggie that had a pen, paper, and times and dates written down on it. The person found all this hanging from a tree and thought the whole thing was incredibly suspicious.

Well, Redditors came to the rescue and informed u/coniferousconehead them that there was definitely some activity happening on their property... Geocaching. Wikipedia describes it as:

... an outdoor recreational activity, in which participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or mobile device and other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers, called "geocaches" or "caches", at specific locations marked by coordinates all over the world.

While there may be some low-level trespassing going on, it would seem the original poster was not being spied upon or in any real danger. Other than maybe a couple of kids showing up while staring at their phones, trying to figure out where the geocache is.

So while it might be pretty dang disturbing to find mysterious packages on your property, at least it was a perfectly harmless explanation. Unless of course, the geocaching is just their super plausible cover story... Hmmmm...
