Contractors within the road reconstruction project will be working on this stuff during the next two weeks, according to the Maine Department of Transportation:

  • Working on water services from West Street to College of the Atlantic
  • Excavating and grading gravel driveways from Duck Brook to the Bayview
  • Grading slopes and shoulders from Crooked Road to the Acadia National Park entrance
  • Milling pavement and grading the existing roadway from Duck Brook to The Bayview
  • Working on new drainage systems from The Bayview to West Street
  • Working on water services from The Bayview to College of the Atlantic
  • Excavating and grading gravel drives from The Bayview to College of the Atlantic
  • Grading slopes and shoulders from Crooked road to Acadia National Park entrance
  • Mill pavement and grade existing roadway from Duck Brook to The Bayview
  • Fine grade and pave roadway from Duck Brook to The Bayview

The one-way Park Loop Road DETOUR within Acadia National Park is still in operation for those traveling out west out of Bar Harbor, please respect the speed limit and be aware of tourists, kids, pets and wildlife.

The multi-million dollar project that began early last year will be finished sometime in the spring of 2019.
