A Holden man was arrested Monday morning, after an incident Sunday morning when police say he broke several laws, not the least of which involved allegedly dragging a woman from a vehicle, beating her driving, and driving a vehicle when he wasn't supposed to be.

According to the Holden Police Department, it was just before 9 AM Sunday morning, when dispatchers received a call that there was a domestic assault situation happening on the side of the Mann Hill and Kidder Roads in Holden.

"The reporting person stated they observed a female get dragged out of the passenger side of a pickup truck, her phone tossed, and subsequently, she was struck several times by the male driver of the pickup. The male suspect left the scene in the pickup truck and the female left the area on foot."

Lt. Andrew Whitehouse with the Holden PD says that an Officer arrived on the scene and arrested the woman who had received the beating for a felony violation of conditional release. Because she was the victim of alleged domestic assault, authorities are not releasing her name.

They were able to learn the identity of the man who perpetrated the alleged beating as 39-year-old Merrill Muncey III. Muncey had been the one driving the car. Muncey is not supposed to be driving, as his license had been revoked when he was convicted of Operating Under the Influence and Manslaughter.

Lt. Whitehouse pointed out that this is the second time in 48 hours in Holden that someone has been out on probation for Manslaughter and has violated the terms of their release.

"Merrill Muncey has been charged with Operating after Revocation (felony), Domestic Violence Assault, and Violation of Conditions of Release (x3.), both misdemeanors. Yes, you read that correctly; he is on probation and out on three sets of bail conditions."

Holden Police arrested Merrill Muncey Monday morning without incident.

Last Friday, Holden PD was on the lookout for a man who they say was armed and dangerous and involved in a separate domestic abuse situation.
