Dedham Man Arrested In Bangor In Connection With 2024 Shooting At UMA Bangor Campus
Bangor Police arrested a man from Dedham Friday in connection with a shooting that happened on the University of Maine Augusta Bangor campus one year ago.
Zachary Fossett, 48, is accused of shooting someone in Bangor last year.
Sergeant Jason McAmbley, public information officer with the Bangor Police Department, says authorities caught up with Fossett last week on Hildreth Street.
"On February 10, 2024, Fossett contacted police shortly before midnight to report he had just shot someone. The shooting occurred in a parking lot on the campus of UMA Bangor. When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and they were transported to a local hospital by ambulance. Fossett claimed the shooting was in self-defense after he was attacked."
Sgt. McAmbley says despite Fossett's claim, after Bangor PD looked into the situation, Fossett ended up being indicted by a grand jury. When officers arrested Fossett last week, he was wanted on several warrants including felony charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.
Fossett was brought to the Penobscot County Jail. He was scheduled to appear in court Monday.
