If you have any business in the Old Town area this Tuesday, be aware that travel through town could be a little tricky.

As part of the larger project to work on the replacement of the bridge in Old Town, a large chunk of Stillwater Avenue in Old Town, including the bridge itself, will be closed for the entire day.

According to the Old Town Police Department's Facebook Page, the closure will take place from 6 AM to 9 PM Tuesday.

"Maine DOT and the contractor will be placing signage to guide people through the detour before Tuesday. The closure is necessary to move in and erect a large crane that will be used to construct the temporary bridge. The crane is too large to safely set up with traffic on the bridge, so DOT has allowed a single-day closure."

The detour routes will include Bennoch Road (Route 16) and Gilman Falls Ave and College Ave (Route 2A).

The good news; this is the "only anticipated" closure of this road while they work on this bring replacement project, barring any unexpected issues.
There's no doubt that particular spot coming in and out of Old Town is a busy one. Here are some other places in Maine that are busy, but a little bit higher up...like in the air!
