Gov. Janet Mills shared a photo on Facebook showing the Blaine House lit in pink in honor of Parton, with two upper rooms glowing brightly as part of the tribute.

In the post, Mills praised Parton’s career as a singer and songwriter, as well as her lifelong commitment to giving back and helping others.

Parton performed in Maine several times over the years, including an appearance in Bangor in the mid-1960s while touring with Porter Wagoner and a 2005 concert at the Cumberland County Civic Center, now known as the Cross Insurance Arena, in Portland.

Her most recent Maine concert was on June 18th, 2016, when she performed on the Bangor waterfront at what is now known as the Maine Savings Amphitheater.
