A former Maine woman was killed in Denver, but police say her body has never been found and her suspected murderer is dead.

Have Police Released the Identity of the Deceased?

Naudierella 'Naudia' Wesley,27, grew up in Buckfield, Maine, and was a standout in high school sports. After high school, she joined the Navy and traveled the world, eventually ending up in Denver, Colorado. Family members told the Sun Journal that, because she had been living out of Maine for quite a while, they didn't immediately know when she went missing.

What Happened to Her Suspected Killer?

Denver Police tell us that their investigation began when they received a tip that a local man, 26-year-old Keelynn Ashworth, had murdered an unknown woman. On December 1st, 2023, Denver investigators went to Ashworth's apartment to execute a search warrant. At first, Ashworth refused to answer the door or exit the apartment. Eventually, police made their way inside and found Ashworth dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Why Do Police Say the Victim Was Naudia?

This left behind a mystery about who the victim was, since the original tip only stated that it was 'an unknown woman.' We reached out to Denver Police who released this statement to us:

...because Naudia Wesley had not been reported missing, it took some skilled police and forensic work to learn Naudia's identity and confirm that she was the victim of this crime.

The statement goes on to say that investigators believe she was killed on November 13, 2023. To date, her body has not been found.

Police say this is an active investigation.

We'll update this story as more details become available.
