A crash in Trenton on Thursday night claimed the life of a Mt. Desert teen and injured two other people.

Have Officials Released the Name of the Deceased?

The Hancock County Sheriff's Office has identified the deceased as Gage Johnson, 19, of Mount Desert.

What Were the Circumstances of the Crash?

The Hancock County Sheriff's Office says Johnson was traveling on the Bar Harbor Road at around 6:00 Thursday night when he passed another vehicle at a high rate of speed. As he tried to re-enter the lane, however, he lost control of the vehicle. It spun 180 degrees into the opposite lane, moved backward, and struck another vehicle.

How Badly Were the Others Hurt?

Mr. Johnson was declared deceased at the scene, while two people from the other vehicle were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. Their names have not been released.

WABI-TV says investigators have determined speed was a factor in this crash.

We'll update this story as more details become available.

Our condolences to Mr. Gage's family and friends.
