Folks In Orrington, Maine: Is This Your Snake?
It's not unusual to find snakes sunning themselves along a rock wall in Maine. It is, however, somewhat unique to find a baby python doing so, as they're not native to the state and are typically kept as pets, rather than living in the wild.
Thankfully, someone with a keen eye in Orrington noticed the little one, rescued it, and called the authorities.
"The snake was brought to me last night by Game Warden Jonathan Parker after he was found outside by a man in Orrington. I was the closest foster contact for the rescue, so he’s staying with me for now. I’m often contacted by local ACOs for reptile cases!"

Mason Pellerin is a reptile foster with the HerpHaven Reptile Rescue and Sanctuary in Brunswick. The rescue itself is based out of southern Maine, but Pellerin lives up this way, so they called him to help.
"I’ve been volunteering with the rescue since about 2022, and had adopted from the rescue previously to that. I’ve always loved all animals and reptiles, especially get overlooked when it comes to rescue!"
The rescue posted on Facebook about the missing snake on Tuesday morning, hoping to connect with the owner and reunite the snake with its home.
Until such a time, the snake will stay with Pellerin in a safe reptile enclosure.
After a 3-day "stray hold," Pellerin says the snake will be adopted into part of the rescue's foster program and will eventually be listed for adoption.

But for now, they're hoping someone comes forward to claim the snake. If you are, you will have to take steps to prove it, according to the rescue, so be ready with some information.

"PROOF OF OWNERSHIP AND SETUP REQUIRED BEFORE STRAY IS RETURNED (not just photos- vet/adoption records and video of setup). Please message us directly if you think this is your snake!"
Thankfully, the snake seems no worse for wear. Pellerin says he (the snake) is doing pretty well, all things considered.
