The folks at the United Way of Eastern Maine will remember a friend and co-worker this Thursday, as they along with the American Red Cross hold a blood drive at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Robin Bridges battled and then eventually lost her battle with Leukemia.

The overwhelming need for blood donations in Eastern Maine is critical to patients battling cancer because the disease process itself interferes with the normal production of red cells, white cells and platelets in the bone marrow. For example, almost all patients with leukemia (which primarily affects the marrow and blood) require continuous transfusions during their care.

The Robin Bridges Memorial Blood Drive will take place in the Cross Insurance Center's conference room, between 12 noon and 5 p.m. this Thursday, January 9th.  You can pre-register HERE, or by calling 1-800-733-2767.

This is a good chance to support the cause and safely give back to all of those who still need life-saving blood donations.
