More shark sitings off the Maine coast!

A seven-foot and a nine-foot shark was spotted by two lobster men off Jonesport last week. The video has been making the rounds on Facebook and Twitter. Although it may seem like we've been seeing more sharks off the Maine coast, they've always been there.

A shark expert says the pair are likely porbeagles. Also known as a mackerel shark, they can be found in the cold waters off Canada and Maine. Some have been spotted as south as New Jersey. Porbeagle's look similar to great white sharks.

Fishermen have noticed porbeagles are being spotted closer and closer to shore over the past few years. They are not known to go near any public beaches.
