Sammy is a short-haired gray cat who has been at the SPCA of Hancock County for about a month now, and she came to the shelter from her home where she lived with another cat. Sadly, their owner had to give them up after having extensive surgery.

Sammy is a very sweet cat, who loves being petted and a nice cozy spot to nap in.

Unfortunately in her last life, Sammy was declawed in the front. This puts a stop to the amount of confidence she possesses at the shelter, although she does seem to get along well with other cats and dogs.

She likes kids a lot, in fact there have been a few kids in the building and she came right out and was just begging for their attention.  So apparently Sammy has had some positive interaction with kids in the past.

She is ten years old, but she doesn’t let her age stop her as Sammy alerts the staff with her gorgeous, piercing green eyes when she comes out to eat her wet food.

Sammy would make a nice companion for someone who wants a lap cat and some company, and a cat that probably won't be in your face all of the time.  Come meet Sammy soon at the SPCA by making an appointment.

The SPCA of Hancock County serves EllsworthMount Desert Island and beyond, and is still operating by appointment-only for the safety of the animals, as well as visitors and staff. If you are looking to adopt, please check their website where they have an adoption application and the available animals listed. For general inquiries, please call them at 207-667-8088, email info@spcahancockcounty.org, or send them a Facebook message. The shelter is located on Route 3 in Trenton.
