Are You A Non-Profit That Helps Maine Veterans? Here’s An Opportunity For You To Get Some Money For Your Cause
There are many of them, big and small, all doing great work to help Maine's veterans. It's time for them, in turn to get a little help themselves. And this is a great opportunity to get a financial boost to go towards your organizations mission.
The Standby to Fly Initiative is looking for Maine non-profit organizations dedicated to veterans to apply for funds they'll be giving away at the end of this month. But the deadline to do so is coming up quick!
What is The Standby to Fly Initiative? Well, it's a group of folks who fundraise all year long so they can help Maine men and women who have served in the armed forces on behalf of our country.
"It started in 2019 as a local benefit match to raise funds for The Windy Warrior Adrenaline Therapy Program, an affiliate of Maine Veterans Project that focused on providing adrenaline therapy to help Veterans struggling with PTSD overcome the daily struggles of anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideations. We raised a little over $8,000 in the first year, which was enough to cover the remainder of their annual operating budget.
The annual 'Standby to Fly' Match quickly evolved, bringing in competitors and sponsors from across the country. In a few years we've donated nearly $455,000 in funds to benefit five amazing Maine-based nonprofit organizations and we're not slowing down anytime soon."
Some of the Maine beneficiaries who have received funds from The Standby To Fly Initiative include House In The Woods, The Summit Project, Maine Veterans Project, The Windy Warrior Project, Travis Mills Foundation, Guitars For Vets, K9s on The Front Line, Boots2Roots, Vet3Vet Maine, Evan's Veterans Project, Brian James Memorial Golf Tournament, Hampden VFW, Not Your Average Nurses Foundation and Veteran Adaptive Sports & Training (VAST).
If you or someone you know is connected to a Maine Veterans organization that might benefit from an initiative like this, here is the link to the simple application they ask that you fill out. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, October 15th. They will announce the recipients of this years funding on Thursday October 30th.
