One of the biggest and certainly most interesting fairs in Maine happens this Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Unity.

The Common Ground Country Fair, organized by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association, will take place the 20th throughout the 22nd.  Each year the Fair takes place the third weekend following Labor Day, and an estimated 60,000 people will attend.

Learn how to make tasty cinnamon rolls on a campfire, check out the "vegetable orchestra", and learn how to do to everything from building a fairy house to making an axe handle.

Other very cool demonstrations include tree felling with a chainsaw, solar, wind and electricity, beginning with bees, goat milking and blacksmithing.  You can also check out one of the biggest farmer's markets that you'll ever see.

A full fair schedule can be found HERE.

By the way, you have to love a fair with no mechanical rides.  The closest thing you'll see to that will be a bunch of kids on cardboard sliding down a small hill.

The gates to the fairgrounds in Unity open each day at 9 a.m.  General admission is $15 at the gate, $10 for those over 65,  Children under 12 and those folks with disabilities are admitted free.  Bike to the fair and get $2 off.  There's free parking.  No pets allowed.
