Ummm… This Big Bird Looks Like He Might Be At The Wrong Feeder
You never know what you're going to see here in Maine.
For real... sometimes I take a minute to stop and think about it, and it seems if you're patient, you can usually spot some of the strangest and most hilarious things ever. Especially when it comes to animals. We live in an area where nature and man often collide. Sometimes even quite literally.
I specifically live out in the country so that I can basically interface with nature at any given moment. I have regular bird feeders, hummingbird feeders, game cams... all that stuff. I have yet to catch anything particularly awesome myself, but I always have my fingers crossed that I will. So I have to live vicariously through other people's videos.
I really loved this video when I came across it.
I follow the Maine Wildlife page on Facebook, and the other day I saw a video that Paul Timothy Sprague had posted. As he put it, there was "...a new bird at the feeder today..." Here's what he posted:
Haha, as you can see this was no ordinary bird up on the railing of the deck grabbing a snack. This was more like a feathery dinosaur pillaging a feeder. Actually, I was kind of surprised at how gentle this turkey managed to be. you'd think it would've all but hauled the feeder right off its hook, hahaha.
But it really does prove my point that you never know what you're going to see when you peek out the window. Could you imagine expecting to see a robin, and instead a living Thanksgiving dinner is sitting on your deck having its own feast. It's not something you see every day, but I'm glad I live somewhere where it happens often enough...
