Two Bangor Middle Schools Opened School-Based Clinics This Week
Students attending two Bangor Middle Schools now have access to health care on their campus.
Penobscot Community Health Care has just opened two more clinics within the Bangor school system, in addition to the clinic based at Bangor High School, which started up a few years back.

According to Ray Phinney, Director of Community Outreach and Safety for the Bangor School Department, the new clinics opened at the James F. Doughty School and across town at the William S. Cohen School this Monday.
"This partnership with Penobscot Community Health Care (PCHC) will help ensure all students and employees in Bangor have access to important health services...Students can get same-day care with little to no wait time...By bringing these services into the schools, we hope to remove potential barriers for students to get the care they need."
Along with access to same-day sick visits, the clinics will treat injuries such as breaks, sprains, and stitches. Healthcare providers will also be able to conduct well-child checks and sports physicals and administer vaccines at the parent's request.
"The opening of these clinics makes 3 in the Bangor School Department. The three clinics (BHS, JFDS, WSCS) will be used to serve all students across the city. If kids are at home and need to see a provider, they can make an appointment at whichever clinic is convenient for them."
These school-based clinics will also be offering counseling services to students.
“These clinics show our commitment to the health and well-being of our students. Partnering with PCHC helps us enhance the educational experience and provides the resources students need to succeed," says Bangor's new Superintendent, Dr. Marie Robinson.
Parents should know that enrollment in the program is required for students to obtain access to the School-Based clinics.
