Hermon, Maine Shows Some Serious Love to a Very Unlucky Skunk

Do you feel like your friends care about you?

Like if you were in the hospital, would anyone come visit? Ok, maybe that's being a bit drastic. Hopefully everyone who has any reason to be in the hospital for an extended stay has someone to come visit them. But say you were home with the flu... That's where you find out who your real friends are. If you have people in your life that will come by with chicken soup and Gatorade, you're wicked lucky.

Then there are times in life where people will rally around a complete stranger. Maybe you read about someone who's house burned down and you donate a few bucks to their GoFundMe or something. Sometimes people can't take care of themselves and the whole community comes together for a common cause.

Such was the case today in good old Hermon, Maine.

For a day or two, people driving down the main drag through Hermon may have noticed there was a dead skunk in the median just down from the high school. It would seem that folks driving by were so moved by the sad, lonely skunk that they decided to do something about it. So naturally, I had to drive out to see the makeshift memorial myself.

People decided they need to show their support for recently deceased rodent, and began leaving well-wishes for the poor creature. So far there's a get well balloon tied to it's paw, and someone also left the former stinker some lovely smelling flowers. Presumably also to help mask the smell of the dead Pepe LePew.

You know, some folks would just leave it there, all alone, waiting for some turkey vulture to snag it for it's next meal. But not you folks. You did the right thing and didn't let this fierce little fart squirrel face the rainbow bridge alone. Now its memory can linger on... Even longer than his smell.
