Water Main Break Leads To Boil Oder For Parts Of Bangor
A broken water main in the area of First Street in Bangor Monday morning, led to quite a mess by Monday afternoon.
Water cascaded down Cedar Street and Main Street, to Veteran's Park in the early morning hours.
Repair crews had to close a section of road from First St. to Union and parts of Cedar St. to work on the broken part. To be on the safe side the Bangor Water District is recommending that folks in that neighborhood boil their water.
"Due to the water main break this morning, the District has issued a Boil Water Notice... All of these homes have had Boil Water Notices taped to their doors, in addition to all doors being knocked on and all doorbells rung."
The specific areas that have to follow the boil notice are 126 and 136 Union Street, 17, 18, 19, 21, 24, 29, 33, 36 and 39 First Street. Those living at 43 and 45 First Street should boil their water, too.
Officials say the point of the break on First Street has been isolated and dealt with. It did cause some people nearby to experience low water pressure, but that should be resolved.
