Looking For A Job? Bangor Will Teach You How To Drive A Bus!
If you don't mind people, you like to drive and you have a decent sense of direction, the City of Bangor has a job for you!
According to a recent post on the City Of Bangor Maine Facebook Page, Bangor will pay for those interested in becoming a bus driver to get their specialized Class B Commercial Driver's license. Then they'll take it a step further, and guarantee that they have a gig with the City when they complete their lessons, assuming they pass.
"Paid Commercial Drivers training and guaranteed employment with the Community Connector once you have obtained your CDL B with Passenger endorsement, and passed all requirements."
Interviews for those who want to attend the classes and get the license will be held at the Bangor Parks and Rec Building on Main Street on December 18th, 19th, and 20th.
Those who pass the interview process will move on to take the classes, which will start on January 21st, 2025.
The City of Bangor's website goes on to explain the many benefits those who go on to take the class will receive.
"• Paid training
• Access to qualified instructors, vehicles, and support for testing (including paid testing fees)
• Paid on-the-road instruction in City buses
• Shadowing experienced City employees
• Guaranteed employment with the Community Connector once you have obtained your CDL B and P, and passed all requirements
• Employment comes with a robust benefits package including paid time off, health insurance paid up to 80% with low-deductible options, and retirement plan with employer contribution."
If you pass the class and have an interest in teaching others what you've learned, there are also spots for individuals who want to become instructors.
"The City is also offering FREE CDL Instructor training for those interested in becoming a Certified CDL Instructor! Individuals and organizations interested are encouraged to reach out. To qualify, students must hold a CDL with at least three years experience and attend all five classes from Dec. 19 through Dec. 23."
