Maine Police Say Waterville Murder Suspect in Custody in Arkansas

A 20-year-old wanted in connection with the murder of a coworker in Waterville has been arrested in Flippin, Arkansas.

Where Was He Found?

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says State Police were notified by members of the Flippin Police Department in Flippin, Arkansas that they had made contact with Spridal Hubiak, 20, of Waterville who was sleeping in a parking lot. Hubiak has a warrant out for his arrest in Maine for a charge of murder in connection with the death of Angela Bragg, 52, of Waterville.

During the encounter with Flippin Police, Hubiak fled in the black 2010 Ford Taurus he was driving, and police gave chase. Several agencies joined in the pursuit on Highway 65 in Boone County until the vehicle was disabled through the use of spike mats.

Was There Any Issue Taking Hubiak Into Custody?

Once the vehicle stopped, Hubiak exited the car with a rifle and shots were fired. During the exchange, Hubiak was injured. Details about his injuries have not been released but officials say he was taken by helicopter to a Missouri medical facility where he's receiving treatment and is expected to survive.

What Did the Murder Charge Stem From?

Spirdal Hubiak is accused of killing Angela Bragg, whose body was found on Thursday, December 28th at around 4:30 inside Damon's Beverage in Waterville. An autopsy determined that she died of a sharp force injury. Bragg and Hubiak were both employees of Damon's.

Maine police are working with authorities in Arkansas and the investigation is ongoing.
