Maine Savings Amphitheater Gets New Staircases, Just In Time For 2024 Concert Season
It's been pretty cool to watch construction work being done on the Maine Savings Amphitheater complex. Since they shut down the old Darlings Waterfront Pavillion in 2019 and started building up the new venue along Bangor's waterfront, the progress has been remarkable.
When it opened for the 2022 season, there was still much to be completed; work to the bathrooms, certain exits, entryways, and the luxury boxes still needed to be finished.
Then, when it opened for last year's concert season, it was incredible to see how the structure and improvements were coming along.

When the curtain came down on the 2023 concert season, the work began on yet another set of improvements to the facility; stairs on the outside of the space!
According to Jeff Wallace, the City of Bangor's Code Enforcement Director, these new stairs should help a great deal with foot traffic in and out of the MSA facility.
"These stairs allow for needed egress capacity, ensuring the safety of concert-goers, as well as allowing easier bathroom access/flow for patrons enjoying concerts in the lawn section."
"The stairs off of the lawn at the rear of the venue are the only major construction project that has occurred since the completion of the 2023 concert season. At this point, this is the only construction project anticipated for the 2024 season. "
Wallace says the plan for next year involves expanded seating, but that project won't start up till this year's concert season winds down.
"Rooftop seating for each of the buildings running along the side of the venue has been permitted by the State Fire Marshal's Office. I anticipate seeing a building permit application for those projects up to the completion of the 2024 concert season."
