One Step Closer To Completion: I-395/Route 9 Connector Project
Scheduled to open officially at some point in 2025, the Maine Department of Transportation says the I-395/Route 9 Connector Project is coming right along.
The project was first proposed back in 2016 with mixed reviews. In 2022, 6 years later, the work began, with a price tag of $106 million.

According to the Maine DOT website, this project will span 6 miles once completed.
"The Maine Department of Transportation has developed the I-395/Route 9 Connector project to complete a 'missing link' between I-395 and Route 9 in north central Maine. The new road will provide a regional solution to problems of transportation system connection, safety, and mobility. "

The Maine DOT released photos of some of the updates to the project on their Facebook Page.
"The new I-395/Route 9 Connector between Brewer and Eddington is scheduled to open next year. These pictures show our contracting partners from Sargent working to construct a new bridge abutment footing for the bridge that will carry Levenseller Road over the new highway."
Traffic to that area was shut down and redirected in 2023 so that the work to the area could be done. Drivers have been detoured from the intersection of Lambert Road to the intersection of Clewleyville Road since then.
We're told that road closure should be restored by November 15.
