The cutest curly ears frame a delicate, pointy face. Sweet Pea is a breed of dog you don't see every day - she is a "potcake" dog from the Turks and Caicos Islands!

Wow, what a gorgeous and unique dog!  Sweet Pea is black and tan, with short, soft fur. Sweet Pea weighs about 40 lbs. These "potcake" dogs are rescued from the street and adopted out into homes so that they don't have to live the life of a stray.

So how did Sweet Pea get all the way to Maine? This nine month old dog has had quite a journey! She was brought to the US and surrendered to a shelter in Virginia. She then spent a few weeks there learning that people are nice and have lots of treats. Once she had a good start, Sweet Pea was transferred here to the SPCA of Hancock County to find a home!

Would you have one for her?

Once you make friends you'll discover how incredibly snuggly she is! She loves to cuddle on your lap, or sit next to you on the couch. She's only nine months old, and makes friends with each new person she meets more quickly than the last.

Sweet Pea is selective about her doggie friends, so she'll want to meet any current dogs in her potential adoptive home to make sure everyone is comfortable. We're not sure what she thinks of cats yet.

Stop by, and introduce yourself to Sweet Pea, and all the other dogs and cats that are currently available for adoption!
