Folks In Bucksport On Countdown For The Dairy Port!
The Dairy Port has been a summertime staple in the Bucksport area for 71 years!
Nestled right on the corner of Main Street (79 Main Street to be exact) The Dairy Port is a bustling place from the moment they open for the season to they sell their last cone and shut down for the winter.
Specializing in homemade soft serve, but carrying plenty of Gifford's hard serve, too, The Dairy Port will officially open for business Saturday, March 29th, according to a recent Facebook post.
And from the responses in the comment section, folks seem pretty excited!
One person wrote: "Ohh yayy one of my favorite things about spring time is this ice cream place opening!"
Another lady said "Moved here over the Winter, had no idea we have an ice cream shoppe and I am soooooooo excited!!!!"
"Yay! I've marked my calendar! Love this place and taking our ice cream down to the waterfront to enjoy!!" said yet another person.
This lady even said it's a sign of the changing of the seasons! "When the Dairy Port opens, you know spring is here for sure!"
It's not unusual, once they open for business, to see a line of folks down the street and wrapped around the corner, waiting for their turn to order their cone, shake or homemade ice cream sandwich.
Whether its locals, looking for a sweet treat or visitors who happen by on their way to or from the nearby Fort Knox or Penobscot Narrows Observatory, there's just something about the ice cream at The Dairy Port that keeps people coming back, year after year.
What other local ice cream spots are you looking forward to seeing open back up again this season?
