Humor really is one of the greatest coping mechanisms.

I am one of those people that in the most serious moments, will make the most inappropriate statements. I'm always all about trying to lift the mood wherever I can and try not to take life too seriously. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I wish I could crawl into a deep, dark hole because my comments were so badly received.

But sometimes in life, there's something that just grates on us and wears down, day in and day out. Right now for a lot of Mainers, that thing is ticks. We all hate them. They have seemingly no redeemable value, other than to feed some small animals. So that caused someone on Reddit to try and lighten the mood with a simple directive:

Finish this sentence: The ticks are so bad this year...

I would say 90% of the people who responded, did so with humor. There's always that small percentage of people who somehow tried to turn it into a political discussion, but they were boring. And other people who didn't get it was funny. And still others who simply commented as though it were some run-of-the-mill thread about ticks.

But most folks saw this as an amazing opportunity to let themselves have a bit of fun and ditch the frustrations that go along with ticks in Maine. If you can't have a laugh now  and then at things like this, you're doomed. It's not like ticks are going anywhere. They do say laughter is the best medicine...

So as we delve into these bits of funny wisdom, remember to not take anything too seriously. Life's just too short. Now... In the spirit of the moment, I'll go first: The ticks suck so hard this year, Massachusetts is getting pulled up into Maine.

Now, enjoy what other Mainers have to say about our most wretched little creature...

Finish This Sentence: The Ticks Are So Bad This Year...

Mainers on Reddit finish a sentence we all say ten times a day.
