Waterville Man Arrested for Attempted Murder& Arson In Connection to 2024 Fire
The State Fire Marshal has arrested a Waterville man on charges of attempted murder and arson this week, in connection with a fire that happened in 2024.

According to Maine Department of Public Safety Public Information Officer, Shannon Moss, the Fire Marshal's Office worked closely with the police and fire department in Waterville, along with the Kennebec County D.A.'s office to make the arrest.
"On Saturday, May 4, 2024, at approximately 12:54 am, Waterville Fire and Police responded to a fire at an apartment building located at 6 Front Place in Waterville. Upon arrival, FMO Investigators determined that the fire had been intentionally set on a second-floor porch outside the rear entrance to the apartment. Following an extensive investigation, authorities identified 31-year-old Elijah Yeaton of Waterville as a suspect. Yeaton was known to the occupants of one the apartments and was familiar with the residence."
No one was harmed in that fire.
Moss says Yeaton was already in jail on unrelated charges and was formally charged with the new charges on Thursday, February 20th. Adding to the other charges he'd been incarcerated for, authorities added the charges of Attempted Murder and Arson to the list after a Kennebec County Grand Jury indicted him.
