Sometimes a stray’s name just sticks, like Scrappy here.

This orange tabby male is friendly as can be, but his coat has a dusty sheen to it so it always looks like he was rolling around in the dirt - even when he’s fresh from a bath!

Scrappy is about 2 years old and LOVES people. What is extra special about him is that he’s FIV positive. There have been a lot of misunderstandings about cats with FIV, but the truth is he can live a long and normal life - just indoors. FIV is only passed on by deep puncture wounds from cat to cat; this only very rarely happens indoors with cats.

Scrappy does not care for dogs very much but may be okay with slow introductions to cat-savvy dogs. Likewise, he could live with other cats but would probably prefer a smaller female. Humans, he has no reserves and loves everyone! He would make a purrfect only fur child for a family looking to adopt.

Call to schedule an appointment to meet with Scrappy!  Call (207) 667-8088, or email at info@spcahancockcounty.org.

The SPCA of Hancock County is a no-kill facility, and currently has many cats and dogs available for adoption. It’s located at 141 Bar Harbor Road in Trenton. Donations are always accepted. They will take your returnable bottles as a donation, so please drop them off right there at the shelter.  They're open Wednesday through Sunday 11 AM –5 PM, Closed Monday and Tuesday.
