19-Year-Old Travelling 100+ MPH on Bangor City Streets Crashes Through Garage

According to a press release from the Maine State Police, a 19-year-old Brewer man that was travelling in excess of one hundred miles per hour down Bangor City Streets crashed through a garage on Saturday night.

The release states that on Saturday evening at about 10 pm, Maine State Police Sergeant, Aaron Turcotte, tried to pull over a vehicle that was coming from Hermon towards Bangor on route 222 (Union Street). The vehicle was travelling in excess of 100 miles per hour.

The 2011 Ford Fusion, driven by 19-year-old Preston Kay of Brewer, refused to stop for police. In addition to speed, the vehicle was making dangerous passes of other vehicles on the roadway. At that time, Sergeant Turcotte cancelled the pursuit for concerns of safety.

Later that night, the Ford Fusion was located after crashing through a garage on Randolph Street in Bangor. Preston Kay was then located hiding inside the same garage he had just crashed into.

It was determined that Kay had outstanding warrants for his arrest as well as a suspended drivers license. He was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center with injuries that were classified as 'minor'.

Since his release from the hospital, Kay has been taken into custody and charged with, eluding an officer, operating after suspension, criminal speeding and operating under the influence.
