A serious crash in the town of Levant Friday afternoon sent 4 people to the hospital, including a 2-year-old child who was airlifted to Northern Light EMMC.

Lt. Aaron M. Turcotte, Troop Commander with the Maine Department of Public Safety, says the accident took place just after 2:30 Friday

Troopers say a 2016 Jeep Renegade, by Kallie Urquhart, 23, was traveling southbound and collided with a 2008 Toyota RAV4 operated by Edward Spencer, 54, traveling northbound. Spencer was seriously injured in the crash and is currently in critical condition at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. A two-year-old passenger in Spencer’s vehicle was flown via Life Flight and a third passenger was also taken by ambulance to Eastern Maine Medical Center."

Lt. Turcotte says Kallie Urquart was also injured in the accident. She was taken to a nearby hospital and treated at a local hospital.

Authorities are investigating what caused the accident. A reconstruction team from the Maine State Police Department is assisting with the effort.
