A man from Alfred led authorities on a day-long chase Thursday afternoon, reminiscent of something out of the movie "Smokey and the Bandit"  before he was finally apprehended and arrested.

Maine Department of Public Safety Spokesperson, Shannon Moss, says State Police asked the public to keep an eye out for 33-year-old Garrett Littlefield in connection with a stolen vehicle.

"Littlefield has a suspended license, was operating a stolen vehicle, presumed to be under the influence, and had multiple felony warrants out for his arrest."

Littlefield led authorities through multiple counties and across state lines, on 4 separate chases, stealing 4 different vehicles in the process.

The first chase started along the border with New Hampshire in Acton and Newfield. State Police say Littlefield stole a maroon 1986 Chrysler LeBaron from someone's house. Cops deployed spike mats at one point and stopped the vehicle.

"Littlefield then fled on foot before stealing another vehicle, a blue 2014 Ford F-150 from a nearby residence."

At this point, Moss says that Littlefield headed for the back roads. State Police started to spread the word to other law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for him. Authorities in the area of Bridgton started getting calls about the blue truck, but they never caught up with him.

Later that afternoon, a trooper stationed on Route 121 in Otisfield noticed something odd.

"While monitoring traffic, he observed a black Chevy pickup truck blow through a stop sign at over 100mph.  The Trooper started a pursuit with this vehicle on Rt. 121 into Casco."

Police believe that Littlefield stole a 3rd vehicle and was using that to get around.

Troopers, yet again, deployed the spike mats. Two of the tires in the truck Littlefield was driving fell off.

Moss says that during these chases, Littlefield was accompanied by 22-year-old Shantel Rodriguez of Biddeford.

Earlier this year,  Fox23 reported that authorities arrested Littlefield and the same women for other crimes, but not before they managed to jump out of a moving vehicle to elude capture. The pair fled on foot but were ultimately apprehended by police a little while later.

"Littlefield was charged with eluding a police officer, aggravated criminal mischief, violations of condition of release, and unlawful possession of meth."

This time around, State Police say Rodriguez was apprehended and arrested, but Littlefield ran off into the woods.

"At approximately 5:20 pm, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office received complaints of a large dump truck traveling north on Rt. 302 in Bridgton driving erratically and at excessive speeds."

Moss says Littlefield stopped at a gas station on Route 302 in Bridgton, hopped out of the dump truck, and tried to steal a Subaru from a couple getting gas.

The couple did not comply, and the cops were nearby, so Littlefield was finally caught.

State Police says that Littlefield was first taken to a nearby hospital to get checked out, and was then transported to the Cumberland County Jail.

Adding to his already lengthy list of prior charges, Littlefield now faces a handful of traffic charges, and bail violations, along with Reckless Conduct with a Dangerous Weapon and Driving To Endanger.
