Um. This may be getting a little too close for comfort. We swim in these waters!

This video that was posted by Bill Trotter, a blogger for the Bangor Daily News, shows exactly what diver Ed Monat saw beneath the waters of Frenchman Bay this past Saturday, August 15th.

The footage was shot on the north side of Burnt Porcupine Island, just a half mile or so from Downtown Bar Harbor.  When you get to the :33 mark of the video, you'll see "Diver Ed" casually looking for sea cucumbers on the ocean floor, and then the camera lifts up to spot an ominous figure in the green water.  Yes, it looks like what could be a Great White shark.

"And I do not see that shark" Ed goes on to say while narrating his footage.  Later he freely admits that he had a hard time going back into the water for another dive.

As the waters warm, more and more sharks are being seen in Maine waters.  A tourist filmed video of a Great White in Passamaquoddy Bay last summer. Make sure you check out this audio from last summer's shark attack on two women who were kayaking in the waters off Cape Cod.
