They will gather today, to lay their brother to rest and celebrate his life. His funeral will be taking place at the Anah Shriner building at 1404 Broadway in Bangor at 11 AM.

The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office issued a statement today, regarding the service:

"The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office general business offices will be closed today as members of the office attend funeral services for Lt. James Ellis. Law enforcement patrol coverage and our correctional facility will remain operational. We appreciate the assistance of both the Piscataquis County and Hancock County Sheriff's Offices."

Governor Mills has directed that all flags in Penobscot County be flown at half-staff, from sunrise to sunset today, in honor of Ellis and his career full of service to the state.

There will be folks directing traffic in and out of the facility in town, before and after the funeral, but motorists are advised to be aware that there will be heavier traffic than usual around that area of town, for most of the midday.

We send our sincerest condolences to the Ellis family, and all local EMS personnel today as they process the loss of such a dedicated public servant, friend, and family member.
