What a great way to clean up that dirty pooch and help out Hancock County's no-kill animal shelter all at the same time!

Grab your dirty dogs and head down to the SPCA of Hancock County for the grand opening of the animal shelter’s coin-operated pet wash.

The grand opening celebration will be held from 11 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 25. The SPCA shelter is located at 141 Bar Harbor Road in Trenton.

Free snow cones for people and dogs will be served during the event.

The enclosed, self-service pet wash unit was donated by an SPCA benefactor as a way to raise funds for the non-profit animal welfare organization.  Money from the event will be used to purchase things like cat and dog food, litter, pet beds, cleaning supplies and other needs.

The pet wash is perfect for people who are camping or hiking in Acadia with their dogs and for local residents who don’t want to mess up their own bathroom to give their dog a bath,” said Diana de los Santos, director of the SPCA, in a recent press release.
