Looks like these guys were happy to wake up to the white stuff this morning.

The horses, donkeys and other critters were all too happy to frolic in the snow this morning at the Downeast Equine Rescue on Hatchery Road in Deblois.  The videos and photos were posted to Facebook today by Debbie McLean, who runs the animal refuge just past Wyman's Blueberry facility and across from the airstrip off Route 193.

Most of the animals in the videos and photos were surrendered to Delas Equine Rescue for one reason or another.  Some once had owners could no longer afford to keep them, or some suffered through abuse in one form or another.

As you can see, they're a happy bunch now.

Back in 2017, we took a tour of the grounds there during a fundraiser and Debbie told us what the place is all about and some of the fine work they do there caring for these animals. The tour almost took on a fairy tale sort of aspect as a lot of the animals freely roamed the grounds.

Debbie McLean asks that if you'd like a tour, then please call 207-598-7738, and she'll happily set one up. Please don't just show up at the gate.
If you'd like to donate to the Downeast Equine Rescue to help care for the animals, you can give them a call, send them a Facebook message, or email for more information at downeastequine@gmail.com.

Beautiful day today. Get out and enjoy it if you can.
