According to Det. Lieutenant Brent Beaulieu of the Criminal Investigation Division with the Bangor Police Department, authorities believe the woman met with foul play.
"Upon arrival, Bangor Police officers discovered Virginia Cookson, 39-years-old of Bangor, deceased within the residence.
Today, a post-mortem examination was conducted at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta. As a result of that examination, the manner of death was determined to be homicide."
Cookson's body was discovered at around 9:00 Wednesday morning after authorities received a phone call from one of her co-workers after she failed to show up for work that morning.
Det. Lieutenant Brent Beaulieu says they are not releasing any more information regarding whether or not they have a suspect in mind yet, as the investigation is still ongoing.
We will update the story when they release further details.
