Work continues within the Bar Harbor/MDI reconstruction project on busy Route 3.  Here is what the Maine Department Of Transportation has scheduled for this week:

- Excavating mainline and placing new gravel from Hamor Lane to Crooked Road

- Fine grade and pave from Lookout Point Road N to Hamor Lane

- Placing new drainage from Hamor Lane to Crooked Road

- Backing up shoulders and driveways from Sand Point Road to Lookout Point Road

- Public works will be installing new water services from Hamor Lane to Crooked Road

- The utility companies will be conducting working along the Bluffs and on Ocean Avenue

All southbound traffic on Route 3 will ride through the project, so please be considerate of those that are working there and directing traffic. All northbound traffic continues to be diverted onto the Crooked Road detour.  Please drive slowly through this area as  residents and animals are not used to so much traffic on the Crooked Road.

The two and a half year, $17.9 million project, that spans from a point 0.57 miles west of Sand Point Road to the intersection of Route 3/Eden Street and Route 233 in Bar Harbor will be completed in the Spring of 2019.
