Pet Of The Week: This Beautiful Boy, Bowie, Wants Badly To Be Your Buddy
If you're looking for a special buddy to spend some time with, might we suggest this beautiful boy, Bowie, our SPCA of Hancock County's "Pet of the Week"?
According to the SPCA's Medical Technician, Annie Chalmers, Bowie got his name, not for his musical stylings but rather a physical characteristic.
"Bowie was named after the famous singer David Bowie for his bowed hind legs. He has had full old man lab work done which came back clear. The only thing setting bowie apart from being a young spry cat is arthritis in his hind legs."
Just how old is Bowie?
"Bowie is a senior boy around the age of 8. He is a domestic shorthaired solid gray cat. Bowie has been at the shelter since late November."
Chalmers says Bowie does play well with others but needs a minute to warm up to new friends.
"Bowie gets along with other cats after a slower introduction, but he really just cares about human interaction."
Like his namesake, this Bowie thrives with each positive interaction from a crowd. But being passed over, time and time again has given this old boy a bad case of the blues.
"Bowie used to be the first one to greet newcomers in his community room, but being here so long has made him depressed. He needs a home to call his own and a pair of hands to pet him always. Bowie is more than ready for his forever home."
