Out of the darkness, a single velvety black paw stretches toward you. A pair of glowing green eyes observe you, and you feel a tingle on the back of your neck.

You realize that you have gained the attention of a denizen of the shadows. You realize that you have been judged, and found acceptable.

You tell the person at the front desk, “This one. I will adopt Ebony, and she will inhabit the dark places in my home.

Ebony will be the ghostly thing that goes thump in the night. Ebony is the cat who has chosen me.”

If you think this is merely a spooky story, come on in to the SPCA. You never know… you could be the chosen one. Stranger things have happened.
